QUESTION
WHAT IS A CAPITAL CAMPAIGN?
It is a special church project that seeks pledged donations from members – over and above regular giving – to pay for a major construction project, in our case a new sanctuary.
WHY ANOTHER CAPITAL CAMPAIGN?
In 2003 the Building Finance Committee projected multiple capital campaigns would be necessary to reduce the debt until the annual budget is of a size to absorb the monthly mortgage payment for the church building. The critical issue is paying down the principal on the loan so payments will not detract from the ministry of our church.
WILL I BE PRESSURED TO MAKE A PLEDGE?
No. Your participation is entirely up to you. Just as we all share the benefits of the new building, all members and visitors are welcome to contribute as they wish.
DOES THIS COMMITMENT REPLACE REGULAR MONTHLY GIVING?
No, on Commitment Sunday, November 22, there will be two commitments accepted: one for regularly monthly giving toward the church operating budget for 2010, and a second commitment toward the three-year building capital campaign. Commitment cards for both may be found in the church office, or you can click on "Get Involved" above to complete the online form.
WHEN IS MY COMMITMENT DUE?
On Commitment Sunday, November 22, the entire church will come together to celebrate the gifts of time, talent and treasure that God has moved us to give. However, commitments will be accepted anytime before or after that day.
